Vitamin E Acetate

Vitamin E acetate is believed to be one of the primary causes of E-cigarette or Vaping Associated Lung Injury (EVALI), as it was used as a carrier liquid in the production of certain vape cartridges.

Analysis for this contaminant is performed by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) peak separation followed by ultraviolet (UV) peak detection and spectral wavelength confirmation against an in-house calibration standard. Chromatographic data are processed by quantitatively comparing peak areas against calibration curves prepared from a certified reference standard.
